Britain’s Top 10 Most Popular Cars Revealed

The UK's most well-liked vehicles have been disclosed in a recent poll and the top car that families are buying is the Ford Fiesta.

Findings by insurance firm Aviva show the top ten most popular cars in Britain and according to the research, big saloon cars are being ditched in favour of family-friendly

people-carriers.

The published list reveals that saloon cars have been replaced by either a smaller vehicle such as a Mini or Peugeot 207, or much bigger cars that can fit more children in, like the

Nissan Qashqai. But in general, small runabouts remain the most popular.

The research, which surveyed 2,500 drivers about their family car history, found that two thirds of Fiesta drivers are men and that cost and fuel efficiency are the most important

aspects for dads.

Moreover, as families' lives become busier and complex with two working parents, multi-tasking mums need vehicles that are both suitable for work and family life and therefore

the shape and size of the cars on UK driveways and who is driving them has shifted dramatically over the last 30 years.

The study found that more families than ever own a second car and that the top 10 most popular cars in 2011 were; Ford Fiesta, Vauxhall Astra, Ford Focus, Vauxhall Corsa, VW

Golf, VW Polo, Peugeot 207, BMW 3 Series, Mini; and Nissan Qashqai.
