Two senior
employees of the SEO and web design firm Mainstreethost took their expertise to
a local high school on Tuesday, February 14.
At Sweet Home High School in Buffalo, NY, assistant manager of Website
Design Michael May and Research & Development manager Craig Kilgore spoke
to a web design class. Though
experienced with presenting their theories and knowledge to business
professionals, speaking in front of a high school group was a first for both
Mr. May and Mr. Kilgore.
“Speaking
with young people was a step out of my comfort zone,” said Kilgore, “but a
welcome challenge. It was incredible how
knowledgeable the students were on the subject.
I credit that to their professor, and the age in which the students are
growing up.”
The long-time
Mainstreethost employees spoke to the high school students about their
experiences within the company, as well as in the outside world of design. Mr. May and Mr. Kilgore shared working
examples of their SEO and web design work, as well as the affects their work
has had on those businesses.
After being
presented with real-life examples of Mainstreethost’s design work, along with
the results in revenue, the students seemed to be intrigued.
Encouraged to
participate, the students proffered poignant questions about the web design process
related to each project. Students also
asked about the educational background of the Mainstreethost employees,
inquiring about the different educational routes that could be taken to achieve
a successful career in SEO or web design.
It was the goal
of May and Kilgore to provide the students with the information they might need
to prepare themselves for professional careers in the industry.
Mainstreethost
looks forward to holding similar endeavors in the future.
